Jenison Lake House Project

Welcome to the ride that was this remodel! We wanted to share with you how not everything goes to plan sometimes. Like throwing a pandemic into the middle of a project! Follow along as we go through the timeline and what we did to make things happen for this client with world-wide changes we could never have seen coming.

The Beginning

Our first meeting in this home was mid-December 2019. We were so fortunate the contractor for the home is also the carpenter of our Ravines at Railside project! This house is spacious, at over 4,000 sqft, and the homeowners wanted to create something that was their own. Here are some before’s of the space!

Gutted

When removal started we thought we would be back soon for more updates. These pictures were taken early March 2020. Just a few days later our governor announced a stay-at-home order! The contractors had JUST finished gutting the week before.

Walls were removed, electrical was pulled and accept for drywall and windows, this home was gutted! And so were we for the homeowners who were now renting and their home sat. And sat. And sat.

Shut Down

Even when things slowly opened up, there were so many regulations like how many people could be at a site at one time, we made few job site checks until May. Installations were taking place and our vision was finally coming to light!

Order, Waiting and Backorders

At this point furniture was getting ordered, as where lighting and accessories. Shopping for specific items can be challenging enough but during a pandemic it was incredibly hard! Even ordering furniture the first week stores opened had 4-8 month delivery estimates. Our wonderful clients took it all in stride and we worked together to find alternatives that would come in before the end of the year. On top of this the homeowners and all 4 kids were working/schooling from home! This definitely put a delay on things like after pictures.

Final Project Reveal

We are beyond excited for the after photos on this project taken by Nathan Chanski! This entire house was a labor of love and we couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out!
